There are currently four groups a character can choose from. Every group has it's own OOC board, in which users can discuss all sorts of things they don't want the other groups to know just yet. Every group also has their own IC board, somewhere in the locations, for IC threads that are for certain eyes only.
Of course if you have characters in different groups you'll be able to read along with all of them, but we trust you guys to keep things fun and interesting.
The current distribution of characters among groups is as follows:
Resistance: 7
Government: 7
Civilians: 15
Nomads: 2
The resistance
Motivations: The ultimate goal for these people is a free, democratic government, filled with their own people. They want people to know the truth. Their main tactic is slow but sure infiltration, although they do have a more violent back-up plan.
They aren't afraid to use violence in general, but by keeping it to a minimum and a defense-thing mostly, their reputation among those that know of them is a lot better.
Locations: Their main base is in the wastes, but they have their sub-factions in every ring of the city as well.
The government
Motivations: They want to keep expanding their power and wealth, both for their own sake, but for the Inner ring and, to an extend, the Middle ring as well. They also very much want to stay in power, and to accomplish that it's imperative for them to keep the resistance down, while at the same time maintaining the idea that nothing is wrong and that there's no such thing as a strong, organized resistance.
Locations: Their main quarters are City Hall, in the Inner ring, but their influence is everywhere.
Civilians
Motivations: Some have strong sympathies for either the government or the resistance, others mild ones, but all in all, the civilians aren't fully on either side. They are the people that just want to live their life.
The ring they live in, of course, has some influence on what their personal motivations are, but overal, your average civilian just wants things to be good for them and their loved ones.
Locations: The rings in Rosehall.
Nomads
Motivations: Being free. Citylife doesn't agree with them. And they feel better traveling the unforgiving wastes. Companionship and survival are the important things in their lives. They trade and only visit cities when they have to. They are tough and resilient and can not be tamed.
Locations: Everywhere outside of the cities.
