City hall was a big building and a confusing one, with many neatly cleaned flights of stairs, well-decorated corridors and poorly marked doors. If a siege ever happened that was probably a good thing, as the enemy wouldn’t know where the hell to go, but it also meant that Scott Donoghue, Davix Orel's moody personal assistant, did a lot more cardio during the day than he’d like to. Especially if he had to deliver something in person.
Some files had to go from Davix’ office to Cecilia Rose’s and there were two things wrong with that assignment. The first being that it was on the far end of the building and two floors up and the second was that there was always a high chance of meeting Cecilia in person with tasks like these and that was something Scott preferred to avoid. The less he interacted with that woman, the higher he'd rate his day.
Rose’s assistant was okay, though - he thought so at least, it wasn’t like he had enough free time to get to know anybody beyond a mumbled 'hi' in the hallways - but the grand lady herself? Not so much.
But orders were orders and so Scott diligently yet reluctantly made his way up multiple flights of stairs and down several corridors until he’d reached the office where Rose and her assistant were stationed, a little bit out of breath and feeling a wee bit sweaty. Habitually, he quickly smoothed his messy, dark hair.
He knocked on the door. By now the box of files felt like it had gained about three times it’s original weight. He’d also almost dropped it on one of the stairs, but had narrowly managed to escape that particular embarrassment. Still, for a moment his soul had left his mortal body.
He shifted his weight from one foot to the other as he waited, realizing that there was even a chance that he happened to be unlucky enough to knock at a time where neither of them were present for whatever reason and he groaned.
