"Run!" Bryce said, and before Iah could think any more about it, he grabbed his wrist and pulled him along. The chaos around them only seemed to grow, and it didn't take very long for the crowd around them to grow. Though in the beginning the thrown bottles had seemed to leave a lot of people confused, now everyone started to understand the situation better. Which meant a lot of people were trying to get away. When Bryce, still in front of him, wasn't able to push forward any more, he let go of Iah's wrist. It was hard not to let the panic get to him, especially with all the screaming and shouting around them, but Iah did his best to push it down. Panicking right now would only make things much, much worse. Then again, Iah had never been known to keep a cool head in situations like this, and the tequila made things significantly worse. Someone shoved into his side, causing him to stumble into someone else, and before he knew it he had lost sight of Bryce. People were pushing in all directions, and Iah soon came to the conclusion that he couldn't do much else but to try and follow the stream. Maybe he could find Bryce again when this all had passed, maybe not, but either way he didn't have to time to worry about that now. He just had to get himself out of here, somehow.

He had lost Iah. Shit. The alcohol seriously impaired Bryce’s ability to orientate, though the whole situation did have a sobering effect. Someone roughly bumped into him and he almost fell. He just tried going with the flow of the mass; there wasn’t much else he could do. He warded off a baton from a cop, but not much later he was accidentally driven into one and had to painfully block a hit with his forearm. And then he noticed he was moving to the side of the crowd. Thank God. He tried to move through the crowd, but someone grabbed him by the back of his shirt, pulling him back. Suddenly, he started feeling angry. He was just trying to get away; he had done nothing wrong. And they wouldn’t even let him do that. He turned around and before he could get hit once more, he himself dealt out a punch. And another one. The adrenaline rush had more or less taken over en before he knew it, he was fighting, as far as you could call it fighting in this state of intoxication. The guy he’d been up against, soon vanished back into the mass however. And then he saw Iah again. He made his way towards the guy, now with his nose bleeding and his pupils enormous. “Iah! You okay?” he asked, when he finally managed to reach the other. He saw they were nearing an alleyway and pointed. “There! That’s our way out,” he said. He started making his way towards the alleyway. He then recognizes the one cop that had beaten the crap out of him a few months back, when he had been with Kaj. The man recognized him too and he swore. He looked over his shoulder at Iah. “Hurry!"

Iah did his best to keep an eye on the cops, trying not to get too close, but at one point it became a hopeless task. There were too many people pushing and swinging fists; he had to put all of his attention into avoiding getting hit or pulled into a fight. He didn't even fully succeed: at one point someone's elbow had connected with his jaw, and he could taste blood in his mouth. He decided that he was relatively okay, however, when suddenly Bryce appeared right in front of him. Iah wasn't even sure where he had come from, or where he'd been. "Iah! You okay?" He asked, and Iah pulled a face. "Definitely better than you are," he pointed out, stumbling as someone bumped into him again. Fortunately Bryce spotted the alleyway they were nearing; Iah would've completely missed it. "There! That's our way out," he said, and Iah made sure to stick close to Bryce this time when they made their way out. Bryce looked at one of the cops, and Iah thought he could hear him swear. "Hurry!" He said as he looked over his shoulder at Iah. "Right, fuck it," Iah muttered, deciding to just use Bryce as a sort of snowplow, pushing him from the back and forcing people in front of them to move out of the way. It worked surprisingly well, and Iah took a large gulp of breath when suddenly he could feel cool air against his skin, instead of other people. "Shit," he muttered, spitting a glob of blood on the street. "I think this is the part where we run, right?" He asked Bryce, since it probably wouldn't take long before more people found this alleyway, and the mass of chaos would just spread again.

Iah was behind him and pushed him, but Bryce didn't need any more encouragement. He pushed people out of the way and hoped they would be faster than that cop. They made it, however. For now. "Shit," Iah said, spitting out blood. Bryce wiped his nose and spat on the ground as well, as the blood had run into his mouth. "I think this is the part where we run, right?" Bryce looked back. He recognized the cop's face again and the man had come closer, seemingly determined to get to them. "This," Bryce said oddly calm, "is the part where we run like a motherfucker." And run like a motherfucker he did. At the end of the alley they could go either left or right and Bryce went for right, hoping it was the right choice. "We do not want that asshole to catch up," he said over his shoulder. "I'll explain later." Not that he looked forward to that, as the humiliation was still a bitter pill to swallow, but anyone who learned to stay away from that fuck without learning it the same way he did was worth it. The alley was ridiculously narrow, but just wide enough to run in. At the end the only option was going right. But that alley was blocked by an insanely high stack of trash bags. Bryce swore. Hurriedly, he started picking up bags and tossing them aside to create a path. Climbing them would be asking to get stuck, it seemed.

Bryce looked back at the crowd, and when Iah followed his gaze he could see the same cop. "This," Bryce said, and Iah was surprised by the calmness of his voice. "-is the part where we run like a motherfucker." "You should really give me her number," Iah pointed out, right before he sprinted after Bryce. He took a right at the end of the alleyway, and Iah followed without thinking. He might've known where this street would lead on a normal day, but right now the chaos from the mob and the tequila didn't leave him much room for contemplating their route. "We do not want that asshole to catch up," Bryce said over his shoulder, and it wasn't very hard to understand he was talking about the cop. "I'll explain later," he added, and Iah nodded, shooting a quick glance over his shoulder. He didn't see the cop - yet. When the alley lead them to the right, Iah almost ran right into Bryce as he came to a stop. "Well shit," Iah muttered, eyeing the stack of trash in front of them. "People should really learn to clean up their mess," he added, though his own room definitely didn't represent his opinion at the moment. He copied Bryce, starting to pull bags from the stack and throwing them behind them - at least if the cop was following them, he'd have to do the same thing. Who knew, maybe he'd give up the fight then. Iah wasn't sure what kind of mess Bryce had gotten himself into with that cop, but he could always hope it wasn't big enough for a cop to make his way through a load of trash. "God, I fucking hate tequila," he muttered, wishing his mind was completely clear right now. He might feel sobered up a little from all the adrenaline, but he knew that was more his own ego trying to convince him than any kind of reality. Just as he pulled one of the last bags away, he could hear running footsteps coming closer behind them.

Bryce hurried with the bags and was glad Iah was helping out. "God, I fucking hate tequila," Iah mumbled while throwing bags aside. "You and me both, mate," Bryce growled. He was lucky he hadn't been full-on drunk, but still, a clear mind would've been nice. Almost there. Footsteps. He looked up. The cop was coming their way, but slower now, like a predator that thought he knew his prey was trapped. "Go!" Bryce said hastily. The man behind them started kicking bags aside. Bryce started running again, but this alley was even more narrow and it was more a matter of trying to press himself through it. His muscular frame worked against him, though even a slender person would likely have trouble here. And God, it was long. His naked upper body painfully chafed along the walls. Sideways, he tried to move as fast as possible. "Stop right there," the cop's voice sounded. Don't let him pull a gun, Bryce thought desperately, God, don't let him pull a fucking gun. But he sure as hell didn't stop right there. They could make it. They still had a head start, although the cop was almost ready to enter the alleyway as well and it was going to be tense. His back ached, but he pressed on. Who had designed this fucking place? Not much further. They could make it. Cop was closing in, however.

"You and me both, mate," Bryce growled, and for a moment Iah thought about what a funny sight they must be making right now. Two guys, obviously not completely sober, working away at a pile of trash. The thought only flashed through his mind for a second, though, because right now the situation was too tense for him to be able to laugh about it. Maybe later, if they'd make it out of this. "Go!" Bryce said, and Iah didn't think twice, jumping over the last bag of trash and squeezing through the alley, which was getting narrow by the centimetre, it seemed. "Stop right there," the cop said, and Iah could feel the little hairs in his neck standing upright. Really, there was no way he'd stop for that cop- he had the distinct idea that whatever the cop would do when he got to them, Iah would rather take his chances and flee. It didn't take very long before Iah had to turn sideways as well, and he was suddenly very glad for the fact that he wasn't claustrophobic. That would've been a real nightmare. He could see the end of the alleyway now - it wasn't very far away anymore, though he couldn't exactly move quickly either. As soon as he could, he grabbed the corner of bricks with his hand, pulling himself forward the rest of the way. He swore as soon as he squeezed out of the alleyway, looking back to see how far Bryce was. He felt a small swell of hope, though, when he saw where he had come out. He knew this street - he might know a way to shake of the cop as well.

Iah was out already, but Bryce still had a few feet to go. He dared glancing back quickly. The cop’s expression told him all he needed to know. He hurried up, ignoring the scraping of his skin. Like Iah did, he too grabbed the corners of the walls, roughly pulling himself forward. The cop was a lot closer now as well; he had been moving a lot faster than Bryce had and wasn’t too far from the exit either. Bryce looked around hurriedly. It could be the alcohol, but he really wasn’t familiar with wherever the fuck they were. He shot a quick glance at Iah, hoping the other had any idea what to do now. He vaguely registered that the noises of the uproar had died down a bit and he wasn’t sure wether it was the distance they had created or the acting of the cops. If it was the latter, then soon more of them would probably be going through the streets looking for runaways.

Iah hopped from foot to foot, waiting impatiently for Bryce to squeeze himself out of the alleyway as well, the urge to run almost to strong to fight. He could see the cop looming behind Bryce, and all he could do was hope he'd have an even harder time getting through the narrow alley. As soon as Bryce made its way into the broader street, Iah hopped onto the balls of his feet, fighting the grin that wanted to come out. He was scared of what would happen if the cop got to them, of course he was, but the adrenaline running through his blood made him feel giddy at the same time. "Okay," he said, already turning around. "This way, c'mon," he threw the words over his shoulder, already starting to run. He was starting to feel more confident with every metre they were running, a mental map of the streets and alleyways slowly taking shape. They were close to his apartment, and he had enough experience with sneaking people into his bedroom to know that it was possible to climb in through his window. They only had to make sure they got inside before the cop would round the corner of the street. He threw a quick look over his shoulder, watching as the cop exited the alleyway and started running as well. Fuck, the guy really didn't know how to give up. He sped up, diving into a street on his left and hoping Bryce would know to keep up. He took two more turns before he saw his bedroom window and slowed down. "We're going in there," he said, pointing at the window above him. "If you give me a boost, I can pull you up after," he added.

They still had a long way to go, but being out of that narrow alleyway was a victory all on it's own, Bryce thought, as he sprinted after Iah again. He had no clue where exactly the other guy was taking him, but since there was no doubt in his mind it was better than where the cop would take them (wether that would be prison or just the plain old afterlife) so he wasn't too worried about Iah's intentions. The cop was still hellbent on not letting them escape. Being a competitive sort Bryce would've probably done the same if he had been that cop, but he was Bryce and Bryce wasn't thrilled by the idea of being dragged off to prison. The took a sharp turn left, briefly losing the cop. A few more turns followed until Iah stopped and gestured at a window above them. Bryce nodded. "Let's do it," he said. He intertwined his fingers, creating a kind of human stirrup. He shot a few tense glances over his shoulder. Despite the different turns they'd taken, they likely still had little time.

Iah swallowed the urge to make a dumb joke about how he managed to get Bryce into his bedroom - probably not the right time (if it ever was). "Let's do it," Bryce said, and intertwined his fingers to give Iah a boost. Iah shot a quick look towards the end of the street - no cop in sight - before he stepped into Bryce's held up hands and pushed himself up to the edge of his window. It was definitely not as elegant as he would've wished for, with his breath knocked out of him as he collapsed onto the window sill with his midriff taking the most of the brunt. It took quite a lot of grumbling and some cursewords before he managed to push open his window and slither inside his room. For a moment he wondered if his housemate would be home, and if he could hear the sounds Iah was making right now. Then again, if he could he probably wouldn't even think anything of it. This wasn't exactly unusual, after all. Iah stood up from the floor and hung back out of the window. "C'mon, hurry," he said, hanging out as far as he could without actually falling back down and grabbing for Bryce's arm. This would work if they both got inside before the cop rounded the corner, but if they failed at that the cop would know Iah's home address. Not ideal. He pushed off the window sill with his one hand, while hoisting Bryce up with the other. It wasn't an easy feat, considering Bryce wasn't exactly lightweight, but months of experience meant Iah knew what tricks to use to drag Bryce inside through the window. Just as he fell back, dragging Bryce with him to the floor, he could hear the rounding foot steps of the cop coming closer. He dared to let out a very soft, but earnest, "fuck," as he lie still on the ground, wondering if they were in the safe or if the cop had spotted Bryce's feet disappearing through the window at the last moment.

Bryce gritted his teeth when Iah put his weight on Bryce’ hands. Come on, he thought. Every second Iah needed to get through the window felt like one too many and Bryce’ bare chest felt like there might as well have been a target painted on it. But Iah made it. Bryce quickly wiped the mud on his hands off on his jean. Iah leant out of the window. "C'mon, hurry." It said a lot about the situation that Bryce didn’t have some kind of quip at the ready. Instead he grabbed Iah’s arm, just as Iah did the same. As Iah pulled him up, Bryce climbed along, until he was through the window. He and Iah slammed down on the floor and Bryce laid perfectly still for a few seconds, eyes wide open due to the adrenaline and listening to the footsteps outside, holding his breath. “Fuck,” he heard Iah say and he turned his head to look at the other, not daring to move any other part of his body. He grinned. “Yeah, you can say that,” he agreed, his voice just a whisper. He held his breath again, which was easier said than done, listening. The footsteps stopped. Every muscle in Bryce’s body was tense. He shot another quick look at Iah, despite the alcohol well aware of the trouble they were in. The window was still open. Would that be enough for the cop to check? He heard the man walk a few more steps outside, but then he stood still again. Silently Bryce sat upright. His tattooed upper body was quite a bit dirtier than it had been when they left the bar; the combination of sweat and dirt did that to you. Then there were three fast raps on the front door. Bryce closed his eyes for a moment. “Shit-“ he whispered. “Anyone else home?” he asked Iah, his voice soft and pressing, “anyone who can say we’re not here?"

Iah could see Bryce's face moving in the corner of his eye, and rolled his face to the side to see Bryce's wide grin. "Yeah, you can say that," he agreed, and Iah pursed his lips together in a tight line. The downside of an adrenaline rush like this was that it made him very prone to giggling, and he did not want to go down in history as that guy that got arrested and send to prison because he betrayed his hiding place by fucking giggling. He eyed the ceiling, focusing on the sound of footsteps outside. It came closer, then stopped. Shit, Iah really wasn't made for lying completely still like this. It had barely been a minute and he could already feel his skin itching. When the sound of footsteps returned, Iah was ready to let out the breath he had been holding, but five seconds more and the cop outside came to a halt again, followed by the sound of knocking on his front door. Well, shit. "Shit-," Bryce whispered, voicing Iah's thoughts exactly. "Anyone else home? Anyone who can say we're not here?" "Right, fuck, wait," he muttered, wondering if Bryce had experience with these kind of situations or if he was just better in thinking clearly during them. He fished his phone out of his pocket, figuring that shouting for his housemate right now wouldn't be a very good idea, and shot him a text instead. He clutched the phone in his hand, staring at the screen and hoping his housemate was actually home. He didn't relax until the sound of grumbling and foot steps came from the other side of the apartment, followed by someone walking down the stairs and opening the door. "I swear I have never loved anyone as much as in this fucking moment right now," Iah muttered, trying to decipher the muttering that came from downstairs and failing. It didn't take very long - though it definitely felt like a century to Iah - until the front door closed again. It was silent for a few moments, before his housemate ran back up the stairs again, followed by a loud "What the fuck, Iah?!" from the hallway.

Bryce allowed himself to shift a bit until he was leaning with his back against the wall, right beneath the window. "Right, fuck, wait.” He looked on as Iah texted someone, presumably a housemate, praying someone was home. Not that he was religious, but right now they could use all the help they could get, so why not? Somewhere in the apartment he heard movement. Someone made his or her way down the stairs and opened the front door. Bryce tried to listen, but he couldn’t hear much. Finally the door shut. Bryce let his breath escape, not even aware he’d been holding it again. "I swear I have never loved anyone as much as in this fucking moment right now,” Iah said and Bryce grinned. When the other person made his way up the stairs again, he was a lot faster than the first time. "What the fuck, Iah?!" Bryce couldn’t help himself; the laughing fit just came up unannounced. It was likely the tension just rolling off his shoulders. He didn’t give a fuck that Iah’s housemate wasn’t happy with this; the moment he’d heard only one set of feet come up that staircase was the moment all the fucks he had to give had officially run out. “Thanks man!” he yelled back. “Not Iah, but you saved our asses just now." He then looked at Iah again. “Oh, jesus, fuck, that was close!” he said, still grinning. “That was real fucking close." He let the back of his head rest against the wall. “That roomie of yours is a lifesaver. Seriously, that copper is not someone you ever want to meet again." It wasn’t unlikely that he had some explaining to do right about now, since he’d known the cop, but unless Iah asked, Bryce wasn’t going to bring it up. That story wasn’t particularly good for the ego. He touched his nose. The bleeding had long stopped, but now that the adrenaline was wearing off, it kinda hurt, as did his arm where he’d blocked a strike from a baton. He was probably going to be in shambles by tomorrow, but he’d cross that bridge when he got to it.

As soon as Iah's housemate shouted through the house, Bryce burst out laughing. Iah couldn't help but join him. "Thanks man! Not Iah, but you saved your asses just now," Bryce yelled back, and Iah let himself drop backwards on the ground. He could hear some muttering coming from the hallway, and though Iah couldn't make out the words he knew his housemate well enough to know it was probably swearing. Iah grinned when Bryce looked back at him and he pushed himself back up again. "Oh jesus, fuck, that was close! That was real fucking close," Bryce said, and Iah let out a long sigh. "Fuck, it really was," he laughed. "That roomie of yours is a lifesaver. Seriously, that copper is not someone you ever want to meet again," Bryce said, and Iah grinned again. "Oh yeah, Ignis has helped me out several times, actually. I'm just glad he still isn't tired of all my shit." He looked at Bryce again, and now the adrenalin had died down a little he realised he was still without a shirt. "So, uh, do you want to borrow something? I don't think you'd fit in any of my shirts but I do have some big sweaters lying around somewhere," he said, already standing up to rummage through his wardrobe. "And why the fuck was that cop so keen on catching you, by the way?" He asked, his face still halfway in the wardrobe to look for a sweater that would fit Bryce.
