If you've never roleplayed in a format like this before, things can be confusing. We also understand out forum has a lot of information to take in, so here I'll briefly explain how things work around here.
Is my character my account?
- Yes. You can change your display name at any given moment, but to make it easier for people to link you, it's best to use the name of your character when you make your account.
Linking someone works like this:
Would become:
Scott Donoghue
You can check someone's profile for the name they signed up with.
You can not change the name you signed up with; that will still be the name people have to use when tagging you, but you can change your display name. You do this by going to your profile, clicking on edit and then going to the 'Personal' tab and then it's the first field.
I made a character, now what?
- Start filling out the character sheet. It can be found here. Once you're done we will read it, to make sure it fits well with the plot (don't worry, we're pretty relaxed) and when all is well you get the Radiation Seal Of Approval
And after that you're good to go.
Can I have multiple IC threads at the same time?
- Absolutely. See, when we throw in a big event we will have to decide where in the plot's timeline it'll be, meaning that some threads might be cut short when the characters are heavily influenced by an event, but generally it's up to you how you juggle your character being in different topics. You can decide for yourself or with other players which one happened before another.
An example of an event could be, say, an attack on the resistance base if it is discovered. Any threads in taking place in the base would look weird if they continued without acknowledging what just happened, but to make sure that runs smoothly we will generally announce an event early on.
How many characters am I allowed to have?
- As many as you like. We'd love to see all of them played actively, but we understand that it sometimes takes a while to get a character going, and we also understand that new-character-writing-bug all too well, so we're really lenient in this. Go forth and make awesome characters!
How do I apply for a character in a leading role?
- Just hit either one of us a PM, really. We just kind of want to make sure the character will be worked out in depth, given their importance to the plot, but chances are you'll be fine. You can take the tidbits of info we currently have for those characters (we wanted to leave a lot of room for people to make those characters their own) but you're also very much free to come up with something else, as long as it fits.
Why are the rules so brief and vague?
- We're not your mom. Or your teacher. We're just two silly admins who had this idea that we think is really neat. We're assuming you guys are all mature enough to know how to treat one another with respect. Fights happen, discussions/debates happen, that won't get you banned. Just use your common sense to resolve them when they happen, is all we ask.
If the concept of not being a bullying twat is new to someone, we don't really think that a wall of rules is really going to do much.
If there's anything we haven't covered here, just let us know and we'll clear things up.
