"Relax," Bryce said, and Iah did his best to follow the advice. "They'll be gone before you know it." He tried to believe those words, but it didn't really work, and when a cop walked past them Iah was pretty sure everyone around him could hear his heart beating wildly. As soon as the cops seemed to find what they were looking for, on the complete other side of the room, relief washed over him. And immediately after that guilt as he saw the guy that was being led away. Another guy and girl soon followed, and Iah pursed his lips as he recognised their faces. He didn't know them very well, but just the fact that he could connect names to the faces made it all feel a little too close. "Well fuck," he muttered as the last cop disappeared through the exit. The lights were turned off again, but it was clear the mood had changed. Iah clenched his hands into fists when he could feel them start to shake, the fear he felt a few seconds ago suddenly crashing down on him. "They're probably going to prison, right?" He asked, still looking towards the exit of the club. Shit. For a moment he had really believed they'd been coming for him, though now in hindsight he could see that they probably wouldn't have sent three cops just for him. When he trusted his hands not to shake too much again, he fished out some more money from his pocket and laid it down on the bar. "I could use another tequila, please," he said.

"They're probably going to prison, right?" Bryce didn't answer, but just nodded gloomily. That seemed like the most likely outcome. They didn't send in the cops and dogs for a lil' bag of weed, so it was probably illegal enough to get them into some real trouble. Had they been dealing, things would be even more black. He tried to stop thinking about it, but couldn't, really. Iah ordered another drink and put money on the counter. Bryce made eyecontact with Deb and briefly shook his head. "I'll have another Margarita. Both's on me," he said. The joy was completely gone from his voice and the only reasons he was having this drink were a) because he just wanted to get wasted enough to not think now, and b) so that his gesture towards the clearly extremely shaken up young man wouldn't come across as all too weird. But mostly a, though. Deb poured the two drinks and Bryce paid for it. For a moment he considered making a joke about Iah getting his free drink after all, but he didn't really feel like joking right now. He took a big gulp of his drink and slowly let out his breath. The music had started again, but not nearly as loud. "Fucking snitches, man," he said with a very deep sigh. "I get someone not liking drugs, but man, there's other ways to go about that shit." Even dealers at parties like these were generally not the sort that got people hooked on the really dark stuff.

Bryce nodded in answer to his question, and Iah rested his head in his hands for a few seconds. This night definitely wasn't going as expected. First, he somehow ended up hanging out with a straight guy that wasn't homophobic exactly, but definitely was a little weird about it, and now three people had gotten dragged out of the club by police men. "I'll have another Maragarita. Both's on me," Bryce said, and Iah looked up in surprise. "Really? All it took was a small mental breakdown and three people getting arrested? I didn't take you for the type to give in so easily," he joked, if a little forced. He just wanted to forget this as soon as possible- he'd reflect on everything that had happened tomorrow, when he was sober and safe at his own place. Not now. When Deb put his drink in front of him, he twirled the glass around a few times before taking the shot and sucking on the slice of lemon. Fuck. Sometimes he wasn't even sure why he ordered this drink, because it burned like hell. "Fucking snitches, man," Bryce sighed, and Iah couldn't do anything but agree with him. One of the main reasons he liked to hit the clubs was because there was an unspoken rule of what happened in a club stayed there. "I get someone not liking drugs, but man, there's other ways to go about that shit." Iah hummed and put the slice of lemon in the shotglass, rubbing the remaining juice from his lips. "You think they bought the information?" He asked. "I mean, I don't see why you'd give up someone's name for this shit if you wouldn't get anything in return."

Bryce smiled faintly at Iah's quip, but it didn't really reach his eyes. "Normally it takes a murder, but I'm growing soft," he replied dryly. Iah's second response made him think for a moment however. It sounded a bit conspiracy-like, but then again, he too couldn't see any valid reasons as to why you'd rat someone out like that. "Maybe. Or maybe they were doing worse than just some fun stuff, I don't know," he answered honestly, taking another sip of his drink. "Doubt it'll be bad enough deserve Ebony." Deb joined them, leaning on the bar. "Unless they really fucked up, they will face several months at best, I think," she said calmly. Bryce nodded. "Yeah, true, but let's be real here, even one week of Ebony's gonna fuck you up." Royally. He knew a few people that had been arrested at some point and not a single one liked to talk about their time in Ebony. Some were scared even talking too much about it could get the cops on their tail again, others just seemed damaged by the whole ordeal. It was a weird thing, that prison. If you played by the rules, more or less, your life in the Middle ring was pretty decent, but one mistake could really fuck things up forever. Bryce' feelings on the prison were mixed. He didn't approve of things like this, but when it came to heavier crimes part of him didn't mind the heavy, harsh punishment.

"Normally it takes a murder, but I'm growing soft," Bryce replied in a dry voice, and Iah snorted, though that was probably more a result from the leftover nerves. "You should really work on that, then," he said just as dryly. When he voiced his thoughts about the arrest, Bryce seemed to think on the words for a moment. "Maybe. Or maybe they were doing worse than just some fun stuff, I don't know," he answered. "Doubt it'll be bad enough to deserve Ebony." Iah pushed his empty glass around to give his hands something to do, thinking about what Bryce said. "Unless they really fucked up, they will face several months at best, I think." Iah looked up to find Deb leaning on the bar, joining their conversation. He stopped playing with his glass and folded his arms over the bar, ignoring the stickyness. He always needed a shower at the end of his nights anyway. "Yeah, true, but let's be real here, even one week of Ebony's gonna fuck you up," Bryce pointed out, and Iah grimaced. "I have a neighbour that was put into Ebony once. He used to be a fucking douchebag, honestly. Always going around catcalling girls and shouting slurs, annoying store owners because he demanded a discount, that kinda stuff. Now he doesn't even dare come out of his house anymore. I barely notice him now." He scrubbed a hand across his face, suddenly feeling way more tired than he'd normally be at this time. "Let's change the subject," he said suddenly. "If I wanted depressing I'd just stop by parents' place."

None of them were affected that bad - or at least not that I know of - but still. Did fuck 'm up real bad." After that, however, Iah suggested changing the subject. "If I wanted depressing I'd just stop by parents' place," the young man sad and Bryce chuckled. "You and me both, mate," he said. "But yeah, you're right. This ain't helping anyone. Tell you what. Two shots of tequila says you don't have the balls to go up to the DJ and get a karaoke session going." Bryce did not need alcohol to do ridiculous things such as karaoke in the middle of a busy club, but being rather tipsy sure did improve his performance in his opinion.

"Yeah, I know a few folks that have been there as well. None of them were affected that bad - or at least not that I know of - but still. Did fuck 'm up real bad," Bryce said, and Iah nodded. Almost everyone knew a few people that had been sent to Ebony once, it seemed. "Tell you what," Bryce said, after Iah asked for a change of subject, and the way he said it made Iah sit up a little straighter in interest. "Two shots of tequila says you don't have the balls to go up to the DJ and get a karaoke session going," he finished, and Iah's face split into a wide grin. "Aw, Bryce, if you wanted to know about my balls you could've just asked," he teased. "But all jokes aside, you just made a huge mistake, because I-," he said, placing a hand against his chest for dramatic effect, "- happen to have the voice of an angel," he finished. "For just two tequila, you have to promise to do a duet with me, and it's a deal," he told him with a crooked smile. "Don't worry, it doesn't have to be romantic," he added.

Bryce started laughing. "The voice of an angel?" he repeated, chuckling. The unpleasant after taste of the previous events were kind of pushed to the backdrop. "Well, we'll see." "For just two tequila, you have to promise to do a duet with me, and it's a deal. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be romantic." "Hah, sure," Bryce answered with a grin. When it came to public things, Bryce Logan had no shame. No. Shame. Whatsoever. "But in that case I do get to pick the song. And it will be Eye of the Tiger, because you either go big or you go home," he added. "Keep your shirt on, Bryce," Deb dryly interjected and Bryce just laughed. "Oh don't pretend that bothers you Deb," he said casually, with a light shrug. He then looked back at Iah. "Duet. Eye of the Tiger. Two shots. Get this party started."

Bryce started laughing as soon as Iah started bragging about his voice. "The voice of an angel? Well, we'll see," he said, and Iah jumped from his barstool. "I'm not kidding, dude," he promised, and his already present grin grew even wider when Bryce agreed to his deal. "But in that case I do get to pick the song. And it will be the Eye of the Tiger, because you either go big or you go home," he added, and Iah placed a hand against his own chest. "That would've been the song I picked as well. Well, okay, that or something from high school musical. Great minds think alike, right?" He joked. "Keep your shirt on, Bryce," Deb said, and Iah laughed. "Oh don't pretend that bothers you Deb," Bryce said, and Iah wiggled his eyebrows. "It definitely won't bother me, please feel free to take your shirt of any time," he told Bryce. "For the aesthetic, of course," he added in a lazy attempt to make it sound a little less like flirting. Honestly, he could only keep it in for so long, and it had already been a very long time. "Duet. Eye of the Tiger. Two shots. Get this party started," Bryce said, and Iah salutated before squirming his way through the mass of people towards the DJ. It probably wouldn't even take that much convincing; karaoke had turned into a pretty regular thing by now. When Iah finally reached the DJ, he was glad to find out he recognised the face. "Hey Ava!" He yelled, trying to make himself heard over the loud music. He had to repeat his words a few times, and wave his hands, but after a few tries she looked up and recognised Iah. She gestured for him to climb up on stage and bend a little towards him to hear his words. Like Iah had expected, it only took a little begging to get her to bring the music to a slow halt and hand Iah the microphone. "I was promised two tequila shots," he started, and he could hear a mix of people both cheering and booing. It was clear the opinions on karaoke were a little divided. "So I would like to invite Bryce on stage to do a duet with me."

Bryce watched Iah disappear into the crowd. "What was that about him wanting you to take your shirt of?" Deb said, with a faint grin. Bryce sighed. "I don't know. I think I'm giving out gay-vibes or something. Or I'm just that dazzlingly hot." "This isn't fair Bryce, you know I'm not allowed to insult your ego while I'm at work." "I love you too, Deb," Bryce joked. However, the music then stopped and Iah had appeared on stage. "I was promised two tequila shots," Iah started and Bryce didn't even try to hide his smirk. "So I would like to invite Bryce on stage to do a duet with me." A fair amount of heads immediately turned. Bryce made his way through the crowd. A few friends that were present patted him on the back and a few mock-encouragements came his way. That was why he loved this club. The atmosphere fit him to a T. Oh sure, some were booing, but Bryce was certain he could get people going. With ease he climbed on stage. He took the microphone from Iah and looked around. "Well, get on with it!" someone shouted. "Woah there- woah there, not so fast. We need a chance to properly introduce ourselves, like the stars we are," Bryce said, trying to keep his face straight. "But we'll speed things up. I indeed challenged Iah here to do karaoke, but he needed an adult, so hey, who am I to resist a party?" And then the ever so familiar tune of Eye of the Tiger started. And anyone in the club who had considered Bryce a proper adult at that point, was swiftly cleared of that impression.

Iah watched with a grin as Bryce made his way forward and onto the stage. He handed him the microphone and threw a quick smile towards the DJ, who was trying to look exasparated but failing. "Woah there- woah there, not so fast. We need a chance to properly introduce ourselves, like the stars we are," Bryce said in reaction to someone in the crowd telling them to hurry up. "But we'll speed things up. I indeed challenged Iah here to do karaoke, but he needed an adult, so hey, who I am to resist a party?" He added, and Iah shrugged and nodded. It wasn't like he could really deny that he wasn't very adultlike. Though as soon as the music started, Bryce made it pretty clear for everyone that he didn't really have any right to call himself an adult. Iah followed his example and pulled out all of his cheesy dance moves - which, honestly, were quite a few. Even though Bryce was holding the microphone, it didn't mean that Iah wasn't belting out the words as well. Some people might've been slightly ashamed to admit they knew all the words to Eye of the Tiger, but it was a great karaoke song- and Iah did a lot of karaoke.

Truth be told, Bryce was in his element. He went all out. Somewhere halfway through the song, he passed Iah the microphone again and the one thing Deb told him not to do happened. The good thing was that at least Bryce's body wasn't exactly torture on the senses, especially not if you likes tattoos - albeit cheap and not always skillfully applied tattoos - but it certainly was not the pinnacle of tasteful dancing. But people seemed to find it entertaining, and in the crowd several people had more or less joined in. It just made it better. Partying was fun, but not on your own. The more the merrier. The song was nearing an end and just like before he'd gone outside, Bryce was sweating all over. The dancing added to the fact that it was already hot in here had kind of been a guarantee for that. As the song faded out, Bryce bowed deeply, and grinned cheerfully at Iah. "Come on, you earned those shots," he said. "Let's not hog the stage, I'm sure we're not the only ones that would enjoy a few minutes of fame." Surprisingly, he was right. Despite the earlier booing, several people actually seemed to be considering giving it a go. Yep, the party was back.

Iah was surprised to find out that for what must've been the first time, he had found someone that went out just as much as he did. He couldn't stop grinning throughout the entire song, grabbing the microphone when Bryce handed it to him and belting out the lyrics. He might've added a few extra high notes, but hey, it was karaoke. It was meant to be a little dramatic and ridiculous. It didn't take very long for Bryce to take his shirt off, and Iah couldn't help but let out a shrill whistle through the microphone. When the song ended, Iah followed Bryce's example and made a very deep bow. It had been way too long since Iah's last karaoke session, not counting the infinite amount of times he sang in the shower. "Come on, you earned those shots," Bryce told him, and Iah's grin grew another notch. "Let's not hog the stage, I'm sure we're not the onl one that would enjoy a few minutes of fame," he added, and Iah handed the microphone back to Ava, giving her a quick thumbs up. "Man, that was great," he said, slightly out of breath, and jumped off of the stage. "And now I got you to buy me even more than one drink, who would've thought," he joked.

"Man, that was great," Iah said. Bryce hopped off the stage as well. "Hey, I'm always full of amazing ideas. Get some alcohol going and I'm a creative genius." He easily made his way through the crowd. He had no idea where his shirt was, but it would probably show back up again after most people were gone. Bryce did not worry about such things. In fact, situations like earlier, with the arrests, were among the few types of things he did genuinely worry about. "And now I got you to buy me even more than one drink, who would've thought," Iah then joked and Bryce shrugged. "Don't get the wrong idea kid, you had to work for these two," he retorted cheerfully. At the bar he hopped onto one of the stools again and was greeted by Deb's faint 'you need an adult' smile. He grinned back unabashedly. "Four shots, please, Deb," he said. "I thought you promised him two?" "I joined in, didn't I?" Bryce leant onto the bar, as Deb skillfully poured the shots at a speed at which Bryce would've messed up. His strong suit was socializing with customers, not working fast. He raised one toast. "To a successful start of a musical career," he joked at Iah.

"Hey, I'm always full of amazing ideas. Get some alcohol going and I'm a creative genius," Bryce said, and Iah rolled his eyes, grinning. "You also seem to be full of yourself," he said, though it was clear from the way he said it that he didn't mean it in a vicious way. Iah followed behind Bryce, glad that he was big and broad enough to easily make his way through the crowd. It always took Iah a little longer when he was on his own. "Don't get the wrong idea kid, you had to work for these two," Bryce said after Iah joked about getting another drink from him. "I always work for it," Iah said with a crooked smile, not being able to keep in his comeback. Deb was already waiting when they reached the bar, and Iah sat down on one of the stools again. "Four shots, please, Deb," Bryce said, and Iah laughed, especially when Bryce pointed out that he had joined in, and according to his own logic deserverd two shots as well. "He has a good point, Deb," he said, trying to look serious. "I hope this doesn't get to his head, but I think Bryce did a pretty good job out there." He mirrored Bryce and brought up his glass. "To a succesful start of a musical career," Bryce joked, and Iah clinked his glass against Bryce's. "We will be the new Queen," Iah said. "I'll be the frontman, since Freddy Mercury was bi so it's only fair," he added with a grin, before throwing back his head and swallowing the tequila.
