"Of course it goes to his head, there's plenty of room there," Deb said with a grin. "Hey," Bryce said, pretending to be insulted, "whatever happened to not being allowed to be mean to me on the job?" "Well, I don't want to compromise my policy on lying either," Deb replied. Iah then clinked his glass against Bryce's and decided being the new Queen would be the way to go. "Fuck no," Bryce answered, downing the shot. "I ain't playin' second fiddle. And Queen, what the fuck man, that shit's fucking ancient," he added. He soon downed his other shot as well. Truth be told, it wouldn't be very long until he would absolutely no longer be able to claim he was merely tipsy. Oh no. "No man, we need to get with the times. Get some party music going. Chicks dig that." In the meantime, Deb was over at the other end of the bar, helping out a few youngsters who did not quite look old enough to be in here. Well, Bryce couldn't blame them. He himself had been doing all God had forbidden and then some long before he was legally old enough to do so. Some things he tried out still weren't exactly legal to do. But hey, as the old saying went, you really did only live once, and with the current state of the world, Bryce figured it was all or nothing anyway.

"Of course it goes to his head, there's plenty of room there," Deb said, and Iah laughed. "I like you," he said, patting Bryce on the shoulder. "No offense to you, dude." "Fuck no," Bryce responded when Iah said they'd be the new Queen. "I ain't playin' second fiddle. And Queen, what the fuck man, that shit's fucking ancient," he added, and Iah put down his glass. "I know, that's exactly my point. They're fucking ancient, and everyone still knows who they are," he said, and downed his second shot. "No man, we need to get with the times. Get some party music going. Chicks dig that." Iah shook his head in disapproval. "First of all, a chick that has never heard of Bohemian Rhapsody is not someone I need to know," he said. "But I mean, sure, we could be like.. a two men version of One Direction, but we both know that I'd be Zayn, since I'm obviously the best looking one here," he said gravely. "You can be-," he said, waving his hand in the air and frowning,"- one of those blonde ones, I always forget their names." By now the expression on his face made it pretty clear that he was just saying things to get a rise out of Bryce.

"First of all, a chick that has never heard of Bohemian Rhapsody is not someone I need to know," Iah said and Bryce raised his eyebrows. "Bohemian what?" he said. He knew Queen by name and chances were that if he heard a song he'd recognize it, but it was too old for him to care about enough to remember song titles. "But I mean, sure, we could be like.. a two men version of One Direction, but we both know that I'd be Zayn, since I'm obviously the best looking one here, You can be-," he said, waving his hand in the air and frowning,"- one of those blonde ones, I always forget their names." Bryce started laughing. "Keep telling yourself that, mate," he said, in the meantime briefly raising a hand to greet a girl he saw here regularly. "You might wanna hit the gym a few times first, though. I don't think Zayn would be easily carried away by a bouncer." To be fair, One Direction was also too old for Bryce's taste. Most things from before the Third War were. Modern music had so much more energy as far as he was concerned.

"Bohemian what?" Bryce said, and Iah threw him an incredulous look. "Fuck, I'm suddenly so glad you're straight. Otherwise I might've accidentally hooked up with a blasphemer, what a nightmare," he said, and shook his head. "This is so tragic," he added. Bryce didn't seem very convinced when Iah compared himself to Zayn, though if he was honest Iah was just glad that he at least knew what Iah was talking about. Who knew what other artists wouldn't mean a thing to Bryce? Unbelievable. "Keep telling yourself that, mate," he said. "You might wanna hit the gym a few times first, though. I don't think Zayn would be easily carried away by a bouncer," he pointed out, and Iah looked at him with hurt in his eyes. "Okay, that was uncalled for, I thought we'd silently agreed to never mention that," he said. "I'm just at a really big disadvantage with the height thing, y'know?" He added, defending himself. "Plus, you have to admit, Jerry is a beast. He could probably have lifted Zayn as well."

"Fuck, I'm suddenly so glad you're straight. Otherwise I might've accidentally hooked up with a blasphemer, what a nightmare. This is so tragic," Iah said and Bryce chuckled. "Oh, don't be a little bitch about it," he said casually. "We can't be enlightened like you, man." He just couldn't really be bothered to feel like he had to know certain artists. The whole bunch of 'm was dead anyway. His comment referring to the earlier incident was met with a fair bit of indignation and he laughed. "Hit a nerve there, didn't I?" he said. "But you have a point. Jerry's all about them gains," he admitted. They had their fair share of burly bouncers, but Jerry took the cake. The guy didn't just lift, though. Anyone who'd had the misfortune of pushing it so far Jerry found it necessary to use physical violence soon learned the guy was a pretty decent fighter as well. Jerry had a thing for MMA, as it turned out. The door to the club opened and closed again, and Bryce wouldn't have paid attention to it, had it not been for the fact that soon after the mood shifted. The loud talking that had taken place before was quickly replaced by subdued mumbling that spread quickly. Bryce felt uneasy. Another incident? Cops? Someone becoming unwell? Soon, however, they too could hear what the conversations were about now. The girl that had been arrested, the only one of the three that had actively resisted, had taken it so far that one of the cops decided that it counted as a proper resisting of arrest. And had taken measures into his own hands. For the second time that night Bryce suddenly felt like shit. "I'm going for a smoke, you coming?" he asked Iah, his voice flat, as he got off the barstool. He needed some fresh air and a bit of nicotine was welcome as well. He was normally one to smoke just for fun, but now he just wanted to get away from the crowd for a bit.

"Oh, don't be a little bitch about it," Bryce said, "we can't be enlightened like you, man." Iah chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. Bryce did have a point - he knew not everyone cared as much about old artists as he did, and it wasn't really fair to blame them for that. Everyone had their own interests, after all. "Hit a nerve there, didn't I?" Bryce said, when Iah immediately started defending himself about the incident with Jerry. "But you have a point. Jerry's all about them gains," he said, and Iah was glad he agreed. "Look, you're pretty average for a guy, I mean height-wise. You don't want to know how many people have used my head as an armrest," Iah told him. Just then the door to the club opened - which wasn't a big deal most of the time - and the atmosphere immediately shifted. Iah did his best to see what was going on, but couldn't spot anything weird happening from his point of view. It didn't take very long until the story reached their side of the club though, and Iah's mood significantly changed when someone nearby said that the girl that had been arrested not long ago had resisted. Fuck. "I'm going for a smoke, you coming?" Bryce said, and Iah was glad for the excuse to go outside. The air inside suddenly felt too stale to breathe in. "Yeah, 'm coming," he said, and jumped back on the ground, following Bryce outside. He couldn't stop remembering what the girl had looked like when she was taken outside by the cops. God, he fucking hated the police.

Once again, the cool night-air had a sobering effect, but this time the circumstances were different. Jerry, normally so calm and collected, looked upset as well. Bryce smiled briefly in passing. A bitter smile, but it was meant to be encouraging. He crossed the street and sat down on the sidewalk. "Fuck, man," he mumbled, as he took out a pack of cigarettes. He took one out and then extended the pack to Iah. He didn't say anything else for a while. There wasn't really much that he had to say. It was in moments like these that his normal bravado was just gone. No cocky jokes that could lighten up the situation. This situation shouldn't be lightened up. Bryce often joked about how he didn't give a shit about the cops and often enough he wasn't really worried for himself, but it did all come rather close now. He had tried all sorts of things when he was younger. Had he decided to, say, try something out tonight, it could very well have been him as well that was taken away. And after the escalation with a cop a few months back, when he was with Kaj, he doubted he'd be let off the hook. He tried not to think too much about those other two. Not only were they probably at Ebony by now, but they had also witnessed the death of their friend close-up. God, that had to be absolutely god-awful. Bryce lit his cigarette and stared at the asphalt without really seeing anything. Shit was fucked up, sometimes.

Being outside made it a little easier to breathe, but it did very little to improve Iah's mood. He muttered a quick hello to Jerry when they passed him, not really feeling up to any flirty remarks. "Fuck man," Bryce mumbled, and Iah hummed in agreement. He took out a cigarette when Bryce extended the pack to him, muttering a thanks. They were both quiet for a while, and Iah stared at the entrance of the club. There were more people leaving now. Apparently no one really felt like partying anymore. "Think her name was Rachel, or something like that," he mumbled, watching how the smoke leaving his lips slowly dissipated. "Fuck, 'm not even sure to be honest," he added, feeling bad despite knowing that there wasn't really a good reason to. He just felt as if he should've remembered her name. He was quiet for awhile again, concentrating on the smoke filling his longs, the way it burned going down his throat. He couldn't even really enjoy this cigarette. "Shit, man, this world is pretty fucked up sometimes," he said. "I fuckin' hate-," he started to say, but stopped himself. It probably wasn't wise to say things like that out loud, especially not when the cops were probably already on edge after what happened. "Well, y'know," he muttered instead.

"Think her name was Rachel, or something like that." The name vaguely rung a bell for Bryce as well, but he, too, wasn't entirely certain. "Fuck, 'm not even sure to be honest," Iah added. Bryce didn't answer. He exhaled some smoke and looked at the people leaving. Some people were doing their best to keep their spirits up, but most looked serious. Tight-lipped, quiet and some even a bit pale. Did he just see someone cry? Like Deb, most had probably assumed it wouldn't be all that bad, until now. "Shit, man, this world is pretty fucked up sometimes," Iah said, after a brief silence. Bryce nodded solemnly. Yup. It was. "I fuckin' hate-," Iah stopped there and Bryce looked up. "Well, y'know." "Yeah," Bryce said softly. "I know." He tapped some ashes off of his cigarette. "I know," he repeated quietly. "It fucking sucks." This was one of those things that contributed to him drinking and fucking his life away. Any escape from reality was one he took with both hands, wether it was from this kind of reality, or just the things he fucked up on his own. He looked to the side again, at Iah, for a moment. "How well did you know her?" he asked. He wasn't personally familiar with the girl, but was pretty sure he'd heard her name a few times. Iah seemed more well acquainted.

The longer he watched people leaving the club, the more depressed he started to feel. It was too quiet- normally around this time the streets would be filled with small groups of friends drunkingly singing songs, shouting stupid stuff at each other. Now the only sounds were of people quietly talking about what happened, some even sniffing. He probably wasn't the only one that had recognised the girl, and a lot would know her better than he did. "I know," Bryce said in response to Iah's unfinished sentence, and he moved his gaze to the asphalt in front of their feet, watching some of the ashes fall on the ground. "It fucking sucks," Bryce added. Iah took another long drag from his cigarette, putting it off as long as he could without coughing. "How well did you know her?" Bryce asked, and Iah shrugged a little. "Not that well, really," he said, frowning at the street, trying to remember the amount of times he had actually spoken with her. "We hooked up a few times, but honestly, I was too drunk most of those times to really remember much," he admitted. He looked back to the entrance again, squinting a little to try and make up some of the faces in the dark, before turning to Bryce. "Mind just walking a few blocks?" He asked. "It probably won't help, but, y'know, one can always hope," he added. He just didn't feel like watching all those quiet faces anymore.

"We hooked up a few times, but honestly, I was too drunk most of those times to really remember much." Bryce nodded understandingly. Yeah, he knew that type of interaction. Not really the sort that created everlasting bonds. Iah proposed just walking for a bit. "Sounds good," Bryce answered and he got up. He chucked the now pretty much finished cigarette away and started walking, away from the club. He put his hands in the pockets of his jeans and it wasn't until a passerby looked rather strange at them that he realized that he had left his shirt inside. However, he didn't feel like going back in. He'd put on another one once he was back home. It was chilly, but nothing too extreme. At least as far as he knew there were no laws against walking around without your shirt. Then again, Bryce knew rather little about laws. The street they were walking in was nearly empty, aside from a few people also walking away from the club. Those that did only spoke softly among the people they were with. No loud singing or joking like they normally would at this time of night. "Do you think she really resisted that much?" Bryce asked, doubting there'd be anyone around to get them into trouble for discussing something like that. He just couldn't leave it behind.

"Sounds good," Bryce said after Iah had proposed to walk for a bit. Iah pushed himself away from the wall and held the cigarette for a little longer, waiting until it burned the tip of his finger before he dropped it to the ground. They started walking, choosing the direction mostly at random, and Iah threw his head back to look at the sky for a while. It made him a little dizzy to not look where he was going, though that might also be partly due to the tequila. It was odd to think that no less than then minutes ago they had been singing along to Eye of the Tiger. "Do you think she really resisted that much?" Bryce asked, and Iah looked back at the street in front of them. "Honestly?" He replied, burying his hands deep into the pockets of his jeans. "I mean, she was being pretty wild when they arrested her at the club. Could be that they already counted that as resistance, and they just didn't want to - y'know, at the club with everyone around," he said. He chewed on the inside of his cheek, looking down at his feet. "But I don't really think she'd be so stupid as to really resist," he said, a little quieter now. "Maybe they just thought she was too much work," he added bitterly.

"Honestly?" Iah said, and Bryce had the feeling that what was about to come out now was going to be closely tied to what he'd been about to say earlier. "I mean, she was being pretty wild when they arrested her at the club. Could be that they already counted that as resistance, and they just didn't want to - y'know, at the club with everyone around," he continued, and Bryce bit his lip. Yeah, that was a fair point. She had not been down with it from the get go and it could be that that had been a big mistake. "But I don't really think she'd be so stupid as to really resist. Maybe they just thought she was too much work." "Yeah.. Or maybe she was just too drunk to really realize what she was doing," Bryce said, thinking out loud. Remembering all the times he had gotten completely shitfaced he couldn't imagine some drunk girl being a real threat that needed killing. He knew he wasn't that dangerous when drunk, at least. "Either way, there's no way they couldn't have solved it any other way, that's for sure," he said. Not that he needed to convince Iah, but he just felt like saying it out loud, getting it out of his system. They took a right turn, into a broader street. There were more people here, so Bryce fell silent. The mood was, understandably, a lot less grim here, and it felt a little out of place. He saw cops here and there and really needed every bit of self-control his alcohol clouded mind had to offer right now to not go up to them and speak his mind.

"Yeah.. Or maybe she was just too drunk to really realize what she was doing," Bryce pointed out, and Iah hummed. "Either way, there's no way they couldn't have solved it any other way, that's for sure," he added, and Iah grimaced. He agreed with Bryce- any way you put it, he didn't think she could've deserved it. "Yeah, the laws are pretty shit sometimes," Iah muttered, but didn't add anything else as they turned into a broader street. The fact that someone had just been killed by the police made him feel more alert than usual, and he didn't think it'd be very wise to critique them out loud now there were multiple cops in sight. He was wondering how he could invite Bryce over at his place without it sounding like he was coming on to him, not wanting to look at any cops tonight, when an empty bottle flew through the air a little in front of him, smashing into pieces on the ground right before one of the cops' feet. The cop didn't seem sure how to respond for a few seconds, and Iah sweared that for a moment the street felt eerily quiet - though that was probably because of his attention focusing in on the cop alone - before another bottle followed. After that, hell broke loose, as the cops currently on street pulled their batons free and more people started throwing things, shouting obscenities as they did so. "Fuck," Iah said, not in any state to think of a more clever thing to say.

Bryce was startled by the first bottle, but by the second one he had regained himself already. His eyes darted from the cop to the direction the bottle had came from. People were shouting. Bryce vividly remembered his last encounter with those batons and made a splitsecond decision. The chaos quickly surrounded them and grew at an alarming pace. "Run!" he said. That was the smartest thing his drunk mind could come up with, but right now most likely also the only thing that wasn't entirely guaranteed to get them beat down. He grabbed the other guy's wrist instinctively, so they would not get split up in the crowd. He pushed through people, but the crowd became thicker and thicker. Soon there was no more running. Bryce had to stop and let go of Iah's wrist. On two sides of them were cops. Part of Bryce was getting more and more hyped up and wanted to join in the affray, wanted to get some sort of payback for the girl's death, but another, quieter part of him screamed they had to leave now. People would die here tonight. People would go to Ebony. Or worse. Someone bumped into him, sending him stumbling forwards. A baton hit his shoulder and he was pushed into the masses, while still trying to ward off anything that came too close to his face. It was hard to tell which way was up right now. People were angry, but many more of them were just completely panicking and just trying to frantically get away, creating an even more situation in which any fallen person would most likely get trampled.
